They had me with the color palette! We combined glowy peach and rosy gold with subtle mauve and lavender to create an elegant palette that whispered autumn rather than shouted.
The free-standing columns that framed the ceremony were my special challenge for this wedding. I knew I would use the same base structure as I did to create the baby’s breath columns for Aubri and Ben’s ceremony. I didn’t want these to look like a solid mass of flowers, though; I wanted them to look a little wild, to create the effect of flowers twining up a tree. Without really knowing why, I had saved the rustic floating arch from Krisztina and Eric’s wedding, et voilà…I turned it vertical, zip-tied it to my column structure, and filled it in with greenery, vines, and flowers. Then I foraged some branches and made another, slightly shorter one, to complete the pair. These were moved to the pavilion after the ceremony to frame the reception table.
The bridesmaids’ bouquets also made a second appearance as centerpieces, intermingled with an assortment of bud vases, candles, and tiny ceramic mushrooms hand-painted by the bride. When the sun set on this chilly evening, guests were cozy in a magical space illuminated by candles suspended from a trio of grapevine chandeliers.
